Collecting a Dataset in Automatic Mode
In general you can refer to the general page instruction on how to collect a dataset in manual mode. The special direction is:
-
In the Sample window set the value to the number of sample that you want to collect. For example if you want to collect xtal 4 from the carousel, type 4 in there. This means that the sample changer is in automatic mode. If the sample is not mounted at the time of data collection it will be mounted. If it is mounted data collection will start immediately.
There are no special directions on how
to do things.
Remember to:
- Create a new directory to keep your data
- Maximize ion chamber readings after moving the detector.
- on the marccd GUI fill in the required fields such as filename, directory, exposure time, and so on.
- In the Experiment slot You can type the file name that will characterize the experiments with the following format: root_%%_###.img where the '%%' will be used for the segment value and '###' will be used for the image number. A sample is displayed under 'Filename'. There is no default, this entry is required.
- Very usuful is the check button
on the dataset collection window.
This will check for errors before starting data collection.
